ABOUT THE BREED
What is this breed like?
Is this the right breed for me?
Before committing to a puppy, you understandably want to know more about the temperament, common traits, use, and general information about the breed. Or maybe, you're just curious about this breed.

Of course you can find lots of general information online on breed websites etc, but as a breeder of 12 years, we know this breed VERY WELL, and may be able to add some 'inside knowledge' that you can't find on a general breed website..
GENERAL FACTS ABOUT WHITE SWISS SHEPHERDS:
IS THIS THE RIGHT BREED FOR ME?
Every breed has its pros and cons. Every individual dog is different in temperament and personality.
But there are some general guidelines that we can tell you about White Swiss Shepherds for you to decide whether this is the right breed for you. Nothing in this list is a ‘bad trait’, however we want to be realistic and honest about everything this breed encompasses so that our puppies get a suitable owner for life and owners get a suitable puppy.

The quick checklist..
Are you willing to train your dog with basic obedience and exercise it properly daily?
Are you going to be with it most of the time/not leave it home alone all day, every day?

Answer these honestly. And if the answer to any of them was 'no', see if you can adjust your life or come up with a solution to make it a yes before you commit to a puppy.

SOCIALISATION
White Swiss Shepherds are super friendly and ‘bomb proof’ dogs when socialised properly all throughout their developmental years.
Unlike some breeds that are naturally really good with new experiences without much effort, WSSD can be quite shy so need a bit more guidance in this area.
Socialisation is not only when they are puppies, in every stage of age they can go through new challenges (just like humans).
Socialisation includes not only new meeting people and dogs but covers everything to do with new experiences. Sounds, smells, situations, places, touch, travel etc. The more you expose them to in a safe and not over stimulating way the easier they will be as adults.
Are you prepared to navigate through all the different stages of development and committed to socialising them thoroughly their whole life?
ARE YOU GOING TO TRAIN YOUR DOG OBEDIENCE SKILLS AND EXERCISE IT PROPERLY DAILY?
Although we breed mainly as pets, White swiss shepherds come under a ‘working dog breed’ title. This means they are active dogs that need a lot of physical exercise as they were originally bred for and love to work (herding, hunting, guarding). They were bred to train and please their owners, and still LOVE doing that, even as pets.
Being active and training with your WSSD is not just for when it’s convenient, it's a necessity.

Oftentimes behavioral issues stem from dogs not getting their needs met in this way. On the flip side, this trait is perfect for obedience, dog sports, service dogs and active people & households, and if you do this, they’re pretty easy to keep happy.

WILL THE DOG BE WITH YOU MOST OF THE DAY/NOT LEFT AT HOME BY ITSELF?
This is not the kind of dog you can leave home by itself all day, every day.
We don't think you should do this with any dog, but with shepherds especially this is crucial to their wellbeing and happiness.
Getting a dog is not only for you to have company or when it's convenient to you.
